আর আকাশকে সুখী করে।
আনন্দমুখর ঘণ্টা বাজে
স্বাগত জানাতে বসন্তকে
চাতক আর থ্রাশ
ঝোপঝাড়ের পাখিগুলি,
আরও জোরে গান ধরে চারিদিকে,
আনন্দমুখর ঘণ্টাধ্বনির সঙ্গে,
যখন আমাদের খেলাধুলা দেখা যাবে
প্রতিধ্বনিমুখর খেলার মাঠে।
সাদা চুলের বৃদ্ধ জন
দুশ্চিন্তাকে হেসে উড়িয়ে দেয়,
ওক গাছের তলায় বসে,
বৃদ্ধ লোকেদের মাঝে।
তারা আমাদের খেলা দেখে হাসতে থাকে,
আর তারা দ্রুত বলতে থাকে
‘এইরকম, এইরকমই ছিল আমাদের খেলা
যখন আমরা সব ছেলেমেয়েরা,
আমাদের দেখা যেত তরুণ বয়সে
এই প্রতিধ্বনিমুখর সবুজ মাঠে।
যখন এই ছোট্টো ছেলেমেয়েরা ক্লান্ত হয়ে পড়ে
আনন্দে মেতে থাকে না;
সূর্য যায় অস্তাচলে,
আর আমাদের খেলাধুলা সাঙ্গ হয়।
মায়েদের কোলের উপরে
কত ভাইবোন,
বাসায় ফেরা পাখিদের মতো,
বিশ্রামের জন্য তৈরি হয়;
আর খেলাধুলা দেখা যায় না।
