Kinds of Nouns

Nouns are of four kinds.

1. Proper nouns: 

These are the names of specific people, places, animals, or things.

Proper nouns always begin with a capital letter.

2. Common nouns:

For example, boy, girl, man, woman, river, sea, bird, mountain, book, pen, field, garden, road.

3. Collective nouns: 

These are a collection or a group of people, animals, or things.

For example, an army of soldiers, a bunch of keys, a bundle of sticks, a fleet of ships.

4. Abstract nouns: 

These nouns denote an idea, a quality, or a state of being.

For example, beauty, strength, love, hatred, greed, bravery, length, heat.
