তরুণ পঞ্চম শ্রেণিতে পড়ে। তার শিক্ষক তার শ্রেণির ছাত্রদের একটা পড়া দিয়েছেন। তিনি তাদের তাজমহল সম্বন্ধে একটি অনুচ্ছেদ লিখতে বলেছেন। কিন্তু তরুণ তাজমহল সম্বন্ধে প্রকৃতপক্ষে বেশি কিছু জানে না। সে কেবল জানে যে এটা আগ্রায় অবস্থিত একটা সুন্দর স্মৃতিসৌধ। চিন্তান্বিত হয়ে সে সন্ধ্যায় বাড়ি ফিরল এবং ঠাকুরদাদাকে জিজ্ঞেস করল, “ঠাকুরদা,
তাজমহল সম্বন্ধে তুমি কি আমাকে কিছু বলতে পার?”
তরুণের দাদু একজন অবসরপ্রাপ্ত শিক্ষক ছিলেন। সুতরাং তিনি এই সুন্দর স্মৃতিসৌধ সম্বন্ধে প্রচুর জানতেন। তিনি মৃদু হাসলেন এবং বললেন, “ঠিক আছে। যদি তুমি ভালো ছেলে হবে প্রতিশ্রুতি দাও, তাহলে আমি তােমাকে তাজমহল সম্বন্ধে অনেক জিনিস বলব।“
যেইমাত্র তরুণ দুরস্ত হবে না প্রতিশ্রুতি দিল তখন তার ঠাকুরদা তাজমহলের গল্প বলতে লাগলেন।
কোন এক সময়ে খুরাম নামে এক রাজকুমার বাস করতেন। তিনি জাহাঙ্গীরের পুত্র মহামতি আকবরের নাতি ছিলেন।
একদিন খুররম তার বন্ধুদের সঙ্গে মিনাবাজারে গেলেন। সেখানে তিনি এক অত্যন্ত সুন্দরী বালিকাকে এক পলক দেখেন।
সে রেশম ও কাঁচের পুঁথি বিক্রি করছিল। বালিকাটি হল আরজুমন্ত বানু বেগম। তিনি পারস্যের অভিজাত পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন।

তার সঙ্গে সাক্ষাত করার পর খুরাম তার বাবার কাছে ফিরে গেলেন এবং বললেন যে তিনি তাকে বিয়ে করতে চান।
প্রথম সাক্ষাতের পাঁচ বছর পর ১৬১২ খ্রিস্টাব্দে খুরম আর্জুমান্দ বানু বেগমকে বিবাহ করেন।
এইখানে তরুণ তার ঠাকুরদাকে থামাল।
“কিন্তু ঠাকুরদা আমি রাজকুমার খুরমের গল্প শুনতে চাই না। আমি তাজমহল সম্বন্ধে জানতে চাই।”
তার ঠাকুরদা বললেন “তরুণ, ধৈর্য ধর, আমাকে সমস্ত গল্পটা শেষ করতে দাও।” তরুণ বলল, “ঠিক আছে”।
ঠাকুরদা গল্পটা বলেই চললেন। রাজকুমার খুরম পরে শাহজাহান রূপে পরিচিত হন। তিনি ১৬২৮ সালে সম্রাট হন।
আর্জুমান্দ বানু বেগমের পরে নাম হয় মমতাজ মহল।
তরুণ জিজ্ঞেস করল,”মমতাজ মহল নামের অর্থ কী?”
এর মানে পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে উজ্জ্বল রাজমুকুট” তার ঠাকুরদা উত্তর করলেন।
তারপর তিনি তার গল্প চালিয়ে গেলেন, “যখন মমতাজ তার মৃত্যু শয্যায় ছিলেন, শাহজাহান তাকে প্রতিশ্রুতি দিলেন যে তিনি পুনরায় বিয়ে করবেন না। তিনি আরও প্রতিশ্রুতি দিলেন যে তিনি তার কবরের উপর সবচেয়ে সুন্দর জমকালো সমাধি মন্দির তৈরি করবেন।”
তরুণ বিস্ময়ে জিজ্ঞেস করল,“ঠাকুরদা ‘মসলিয়াম’(সমাধিমন্দির) কী?”
“আহা! ‘মসলিয়াম’ হল মৃত লোকের কবরের উপর নির্মিত সৌধ।” পৌরাণিক কাহিনি অনুসারে তার স্ত্রীর মৃত্যুতে শাহজাহান এত দুঃখিত হয়েছিলেন যে রাজসভাকে দু-বছর শোক পালন করতে আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন। পরে শাহজাহান তাঁর প্রিয়তমা স্ত্রীর স্মৃতিতে যমুনা নদীর পাশে পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে সুন্দর স্মৃতিশৌধ নির্মাণ করতে আরম্ভ করেন। স্মৃতিশৌধটি তৈরি করতে ২২০০০(বাইশ হাজার) কর্মীর ২২(বাইশ) বছর লেগেছিল। পুরো তাজমহলটাই সাদা মার্বেল পাথরে তৈরি হয়েছিল। সারা এশিয়া থেকে আনা হয়েছিল এই সাদা মার্বেল। ১৬৬৬ খ্রিস্টাব্দে শাহজাহান যখন মারা যান তার দেহ |
মমতাজ মহলের পাশে রাখা হয়েছিল। এই অপূর্ব স্মৃতিশৌধ তাজমহল রূপে পরিচিত হল। এখন এটাকে পৃথিবীর সপ্তাশ্চর্যের মধ্যে একটি বলে বিবেচনা করা হয়। ঠাকুরদা মুহূর্তের জন্য থামলেন। “বেশ, আমি আজ তোমাকে অনেক কিছু বলেছি। এটা কি তোমাকে যথেষ্ট সাহায্য করবে?”
তরুণ আনন্দে বলল,“হ্যা, এখন আমি সহজে ‘তাজমহল’ সম্বন্ধে একটা অনুচ্ছেদ লিখতে পারি।”

I always go to school on foot. The distance between my home and school is near about 2 kilometres. On my way to school I came across a big pond.
