When an action will have completed before another action within a certain time in the future, the former action is Future Perfect Tense and the latter is Simple Present or Present Indefinite Tense. Future Perfect Tense
Future Perfect Tense refers to the completion of an action by a certain time in the future.
- Example: The thief will have gone away before the police arrive.
- Example: My friend will have reached home by now.
In the above sentence, the action words are ‘go away’ and ‘reach’. Those actions of the verbs will have been completed before the other actions. In such a situation, the former action is Future Perfect Tense and the latter is Simple Present or Present Indefinite Tense.
Rules to use of Future Perfect tense
There are some rules that are discussed below about the use of Futuret perfect tense in sentences following the situations.
Rule 1:
Future perfect Tense is used to indicate an action that will be completed within a certain point of time in the future.
- Example: We shall have done the work by next week.
- Example: He will have finished the exercise by then.
Rule 2:
It indicates an action will have been completed before another action within a certain time in the future:
- Example: I shall have not gone before you came.
- Example: Will the storm have ceased before Suporna reaches home?
Future Perfect tense is normally used with a time phrase beginning with by - 'by the end of', 'by then', 'by the 10th' etc.
