Madhumati: (worried) Rama Natha, you are spending so much money on this. We might soon be without money.

Scene 2: Meeting the Sage

Narrator: One day, a famous sage called Mahipati came to their town. Rama Natha became his follower and asked him about the potion.

Rama Natha: (eagerly) Sage Mahipati, do you know about the magic potion that can turn anything into gold?

Sage Mahipati: (smiling) Yes, in my travels in the Himalayas, I heard how you could make such a potion. But it is difficult.

Rama Natha: (pleading) Tell me! I will do anything!

Sage Mahipati: You have to plant a banana plant and water it regularly with your hands. In winter, collect the morning dew from the leaves. When you have five liters of dew, bring it to me. I will chant some magic words to turn it into the magic potion.

Scene 3: Working Hard

Narrator: Rama Natha went home and talked to his wife. They started cleaning the fields and planted rows and rows of banana plants.

Madhumati: (encouraging) Let’s work hard and collect the dew.

Sage Mahipati: (calmly) Madhumati, come forward.

Narrator: Madhumati came with a big box. Inside shined stacks of gold coins.

Sage Mahipati: (wisely) There is no magic potion. You worked hard on your land and created this wealth. Your hard work and your wife’s efforts made this possible. I played a trick on you so you would learn the value of hard work.

Rama Natha: (understanding) Thank you, Sage Mahipati. I now understand the wisdom behind your words.

Narrator: From that day on, Rama Natha worked even harder on his plantation, knowing that hard work is the true magic.
